Food 4 Thought members are invited to visit the farms, meet the farmers and see where their food is coming from. We will host two farm days in which Food 4 Thought members will have the opportunity to meet fellow Food 4 Thought'ers, enjoy a delicious picnic potluck lunch, harvest some crops and just enjoy a great day at the farm. Rather than working with just one farm, we work with several. This allows us to offer you a wider variety of fruits and vegetables. In addition, working with several farms helps to reduce some of the risks associated with farming, such as weather, pests and diseases. If one farm experiences flooding, we have several other farms from which we can continue to receive wonderful, fresh produce.

Each of the farms we work with practices sustainable farming methods, growing delicious and nutritious vegetables and fruit without the use of chemicals.
Harmony Valley Farm- Viroqua, WI
Harmony Valley is a family-owned, diversified farm with over 30 years of  experience producing high quality organic vegetables and berries. The farm  sits in an isolated valley in Southwestern Wisconsin where their silt loam fields  are high in organic matter, humus and biological life. The home farm consists of 175 acres of woods, pastures and crop land lying along Spring Creek.

Harmony Valley grows a wide variety of standard and specialty vegetables and berries. The farm is certified by the Midwest Organic Services Association and farming goes even beyond the basic certified methods. Richard de Wilde has implemented many innovative techniques to promote soil health and fertility and believes strongly that organic farming produces the highest-quality and best-tasting food.

Natura Farms- Scandia, MN
Natura Farms is a small farm, consisting of 57 acres, located on the east shores of White Rock Lake in northern Washington County, within the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. Farmer Paul Otten has been working this land for nearly a quarter century.

As their Latin name implies, Natura Farms’ commitment is to work with Nature, to keep the environment clean and healthy, to build soil life and fertility naturally and to grow exceptionally tasty and nutritious produce without toxic pesticides for our mutual wellbeing. Their philosophy is simple: Health comes from the farm, not from the pharmacy!

Natura farms is certified by the Midwest Food Alliance. It also serves as the location of Food 4 Thought's farm days!

Ridgeroll Farms- Buffalo, MN
Jerome and Julie Vergin began their heirloom tomato adventures several years ago as part of a University of Minnesota seed starting trial. They’ve been hooked ever since and marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors and flavors available in these wonderful fruits. Their heirloom tomatoes are grown organically in a half acre back yard garden setting, which is part of a 250 acre farm near Buffalo, MN. All of their crops are grown using sustainable practices which seek to maximize environmental stewardship while at the same time produce a high quality product.

Each year they try new varieties and enjoy raising the heirlooms as a hobby they can share. “There’s no better place to be than in the garden!”
